The main objective of this project is the development of a customizable electronic journal, i.e. an information system based on Internet technology for the dissemination of news. The system will be parameterizable according to the personal profile of each reader individually. For its development, we will focus on how to present the information in order to improve its usefulness for the reader. For that purpose we will study the best possible organizations of the information and different readers’ profiles to end up with a result far beyond the mere presentation of multimedia information on a screen. For the realization of this project, an interdisciplinary group is formed including researchers from the areas of Telematics Engineering, Contemporary History, Biblioteconomy and Documentation and Journalism. A team from El País Digital will also participate. The results from this project will be transferred to them. Finally, Fundesco will act as an observer to the project.
